Theme and Variation

In this image you see a background of leaves from which a single leaf (on the righthand side) arises from the canvas and dances itself into an evolutionary, circular line.

This image exemplifies the same l structure that Felix Mendelssohn used in his piano composition entitled Variations Serieuses. Mendelssohn's piece begins with a very simple melody then evolves into a more complex expression as it continues.
